FAQs

Jones Paving

  • What is sealcoating, and why do I need it?

Sealcoating is a protective layer applied to asphalt that can more than double its lifespan. It shields your pavement from harsh weather conditions like ice, snow, and sun, while reducing the need for costly repairs down the road. Think of it like waxing your car or painting your home—it's preventative maintenance that works. For just pennies per square foot, sealcoating protects against oxidation, moisture penetration, and everyday wear. It also restores the rich, dark appearance of your asphalt, enhancing your property's curb appeal and value.
  • When should I sealcoat?

If your asphalt is at least one year old and hasn't been sealed yet, we recommend sealcoating annually for the first two years. After that initial protection, reapplying every two to three years is generally sufficient. The exact timing depends on weather conditions in your area and how pristine you'd like your pavement to look.
  • Are you licensed and insured?

Absolutely. Jones Paving maintains full licensing and insurance coverage to protect you and your property throughout every project.
  • Do you offer warranties?

Yes, we warranty our work. The specific terms depend on the scope of your project, and we'll review all warranty details with you before any work begins.
  • Why choose a local, family-owned paving company?

As members of this community, our reputation is everything. You'll receive straightforward advice, dependable service, and personal attention from a team that's genuinely invested in the quality of your project.
  • How long before I can drive on my pavement after sealcoating has been performed?

Your pavement will typically be ready for vehicle traffic within 24 to 48 hours after sealcoating, though exact timing varies based on temperature and weather conditions.
  • What is the procedure for installing new asphalt?

Our standard installation includes 4 inches of crush and run gravel base, 2 inches of 19 mm hot asphalt base mix, and 2 inches of 9.5 mm hot asphalt surface mix. For lighter-duty applications where heavy equipment won't be used, we recommend 4 inches of crush and run gravel with 2 inches of 9.5 mm hot asphalt surface mix.
  • How long will my asphalt last?

When installed correctly and maintained regularly, your asphalt pavement should last between 15 and 25 years.
  • What makes your paving work different?

Being family-owned means we prioritize doing things right over taking shortcuts. We emphasize proper grading, solid base preparation, and meticulous craftsmanship to deliver pavement that stands the test of time.
  • When is the best time of year for paving?

The optimal paving season runs from spring through fall. Warmer temperatures during these months allow the asphalt to cure properly and achieve maximum durability.
